Description
Using the drama of a football penalty shootout, The Greatest Penalty by Gareth Edwards presents the greatest issue every person faces - the penalty of sin before a holy God.
The tract recalls the famous 1994 World Cup Final penalty miss before moving to the Bible’s teaching that “the wages of sin is death” and that all people stand guilty before God. It then points readers to the good news of the gospel: Jesus Christ, God’s sinless Son, bore the penalty for sin on the cross, died, was buried, and rose again so that forgiveness and eternal life might be offered to all who trust in Him.
Clear, contemporary, and easy to follow, The Greatest Penalty uses a universally recognised sporting moment to communicate timeless biblical truth. Its football theme makes it particularly suitable for sports outreach, World Cup and tournament events, football clubs, youth work, community distribution, and personal evangelism.
