1 & 2 Kings

With a foreword from David Gilliland, in the pages of this volume the reader will notice that while the historical story line of 1 and 2 Kings has been carefully followed, adequate but less space has been given to matters of chronology and archaeology. Here the author's priorities lie elsewhere. At frequent intervals in these pages, Mr McShane pauses to note how the principles, which emerge from a consideration of the inspired record of the ancient history of the kingdom of Israel, have a practical bearing upon Christian living in the present time. The author demonstrates how principles of assembly rule are illustrated by the material of the Kings. This feature alone, which is not commonly found in expositions of 1 and 2 Kings, will give this volume a special place on the book shelf of the Old Testament student.
