Collection: John Bunyan

John Bunyan (1628–1688) was an English preacher and Christian author, best remembered for his celebrated allegory The Pilgrim’s Progress. Born in Elstow, near Bedford, he worked as a tinker before experiencing a profound spiritual awakening and coming to personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He subsequently became a Baptist preacher, known for his earnest gospel ministry and unwavering commitment to the authority of Scripture.

Following the restoration of the monarchy in 1660, Bunyan was imprisoned for preaching without official permission, spending approximately twelve years in Bedford Gaol. During his imprisonment he wrote several influential works, including Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners. His best-known book, The Pilgrim’s Progress (1678), has become one of the most widely read Christian books in history. Through his vivid storytelling, biblical insight and practical teaching, Bunyan's writings have encouraged generations of believers in their Christian pilgrimage.
