HAVE YOU Ever heard people say, ‘just what has gone wrong with this world ?’

As we watch the television or read the news we constantly hear of murders, fraud, abuse, scams and a constant stream of evil. Sometimes the most unlikely people commit these crimes and we’d like to think that we wouldn’t do the same, but can we be so sure? Why is it like this? Does it have to be like this? Contrary to popular belief the Bible states that we all do wrong - ‘for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’1. It explains that the evil in the world came as a result of one man’s actions long ago - ‘sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin’2, that man was called Adam, the first man to live on this earth. The sinful disobedience of him and his wife, Eve, in the Garden of Eden are the root of the problems in the world today. The Bible warns that we are in danger because of our sins and that’s bad news! But there is good news! The bible says ‘God did not send his Son (Jesus) into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him’. Jesus is the one person who never did any wrong. He lived a perfect life here on earth and then died on a cross so that our sins could be forgiven and we can be promised a place in heaven. The Bible says “Christ has suffered once for sins ... that he might bring us to God.” God says that if we realise that we have sinned and believe that Jesus died for us, we’ll be with Him in heaven at the end of this life on earth.
